Lack of MMA Event Coverage, A Rant!

Thinking about sportscasters in L.A. while working on my blog entitled "Herschel two pleasant surprises in one event!"  I realized that most if not all the L.A. sportscasters have been in that role for 10 or 20 years and the majority are ex-football players.

Can it be that the whole exsisiting generation of sportscasters is so "old school sports centric" that they just don't get MMA?

ESPN was cutting edge back in the day but the are clearly stuck back in 1990!

I notice lately that many of the local sportscasters are adding 2 minutes of "funny internet footage" at the end of their sports casts and some of it is not even sports related, WTF is up with that?  Use that time for MMA and other "newer sports".

I don't get the lack of MMA coverage and to a similar extent X game type events.  These old NFL guys show 2 minutes of soccer footage and soccer being popular in the U.S. is a complete myth, don't they know it is 2010 not 1977?

Hell even Pele retired and the Raiders no long have fist fights on the field.  I really think it is time for a "sea change" in the sportscaster ranks.

Add some "new generation sports" you freaking antiques!

A show that always remained on the cutting edge?  ABC Wide World of Sports, now they covered everything from guys jumping canyons in cars to bowling, boxing, etc. often in the same broadcast!

WWofS covered everything and did it well and that was in the '70's.  How the hell did we get to 2010 and loose that level of interesting, diverse sports coverage!

Ok I feel better now.
